Pictorial of our most recent educational Chef day on the Bay

What an incredible day this was on the water with 10 area Chefs, Steve Vilnit of Maryland Fisheries Dept, Glenn Casten and myself! We loaded in a 15 passenger van and made the trip to Hoopers Island Maryland. You realize you have entered a different area and mind set when every driver gives you a nice friendly wave as you pass. We began our day loading onto a large bay built working boat to make our 4 hour tour. We experienced many of the catch methods used in our local waters to harvest a multitude of species. We witnessed both methods for catching crabs commercially, trotline and pots. The pots are placed on a long line and dropped to the bottom where they are baited and left to attract Maryland's favorite seafood item. We pulled spot pots, visited a rockfish pound net, and even dredged for some oysters. We then boated past Smith Island and all of Hoopers Island to end up at Chesapeake Gold Oyster farm. What a great education, and what a great product! Our next few trip dates are June 19th and July 5th. Please contact your sales rep to lock down your seat on the next adventure!
