ceanPro FISHPRINT™ - our sustainable seafood rating system and how it can help improve the sustainable purchasing decisions you make
Making sustainable purchasing decisions is a process that requires research and focus. Each time a change in an operation or a menu occurs, the opportunity comes to upgrade your sustainability efforts. We feel the same way about purchasing seafood. Thus OceanPro Industries has developed a system to rate each and every purchase based on the environmental impact. We call it the FISHPRINT.™.
Being environmentally responsible is a common code for OceanPro Industries. And we want to share this with our customers, who generally desire to purchase the most sustainable product available to them. We know that there are many ratings available (Monterey Bay Aquarium, Environmental Defense Fund, Blue Ocean Institute, National Geographic and so forth). We know that evaluating your purchase, from a sustainability standpoint, can be confusing and difficult. We know that information is your best friend and that is why our FISHPRINT™ rating system is designed to provide you with the clear, simple information you need to make the best decision.
An important part of being sustainable is buying LOCALLY harvested seafood. Considering the CARBON FISHPRINT of a catch helps to determine its overall impact on the environment and is equally as important to us, thus is one of OceanPro's methods of promoting locally harvested seafood.
Through a series of reports, available on-line for each specific customer at profish.com, your purchase history can be viewed with this rating system. The reporting capabilities cover a range of options, from viewing a single purchase invoice to a defined period of purchases, which allows one to examine the FISHPRINT™ score with an eye toward lessening the environmental effects of purchasing.
By reviewing this history, a purchaser can correlate his/her decisions to improve (or diminish may be a better descriptive term) their environmental impact performance!
