The market has taken an upturn and there are plenty of nice fish available. The domestic market is non-existent & imports are in from Ecuador. This fish is excellent in quality and the perfect grilling fish for the holiday weekend. Look for prices to stabilize over the next few weeks. We would certainly keep sword in the “buy” category.
A strong amount of large fish are coming in from Northern openings. Prices are moving down slightly but this premium fish will remain on the high side. Look for quality to be exceptional and the fish to be large.
These fantastic fish are in-house. We have fish in the 10-50 lb range and fish in the 50-80 lb. range. Quality has been outstanding and prices are stable. A strong “buy”for this time of year and many consider Halibut the perfect Summer fish.
Wild Blue Catfish
Fish are landing well but we are quickly entering the time of year when water temperatures rise and fish become a little more scarce. Inventory is strong this week but be on look out for the summer slowdown.
Remains a very difficult situation. Although Maryland is showing signs of beginning to pick more consistently, prices remain high and the amount of crabs is not enough to begin to push prices down. The effects of labor are also leading to higher prices. Venezuela is in high demand due to the lack of available pasteurized crab. This high demand has lead to record high sale prices and limited offerings from importers. We expect this condition on Venezuelan to continue and its looks like your best crab option at this time.
All markets remain strong and we expect to see high pricing for several weeks to come. This is based on the ongoing limited amount coming out of Chile and worldwide demand has increased sharply as the world breaks out of the pandemic. Unfortunately, there is no short term good news. We will continue to pass on news when this markets begins to head downward.
